Hey,
I’m Rachael, a mum of two, law student, full-time worker, and woman in the thick of rediscovering herself.
I’m 42, and I started this blog after the birth of my daughter Bethany in 2023. She arrived after a long, painful, and deeply personal journey, one that included seven pregnancy losses over the course of ten years. Each loss left a mark. Each one shaped the mother I am today.
I had my son James when I was 34. Back then, I thought I understood motherhood. But becoming a mum again at 40 was a completely different experience physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It’s been beautiful, exhausting, healing, and at times, incredibly hard.
Through it all, I’ve been lucky to have my husband Richard by my side my soul mate and best friend. We’ve been together for over 21 years, and his quiet strength, humour, and unwavering support have carried me through more than I can put into words.
This blog is my space to share the truth about motherhood in your 40s. The kind of truth that doesn’t always make it into baby books or Instagram captions. I write about:
– Postpartum recovery when your body doesn’t bounce back
– Mental health and the quiet weight of depression
– Pregnancy loss and the grief that lingers
– Studying law while raising a family and working 10-hour shifts
– Decluttering my home and my head
– Losing weight and reclaiming my energy one small win at a time
I started this blog because I needed a place to breathe. A place to be honest. And maybe, just maybe, a place where someone else might feel a little less alone in their own chaos.
If you’re a mum or dad in your 40s, a parent after loss, a parent trying to hold it all together while quietly falling apart I see you. You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re just in a different chapter.
And you’re not alone.
Rachael x
